The BigPond Elite Network Gateway is a device for users in areas without ADSL/Cable availability, or short-term renters without access to fixed line cable or ADSL Internet services, Telstra's BigPond Elite Wireless Network Gateway is a 3G modem/router that provides wireless access to Telstra's Next G network. The BigPond Elite Wireless Network Gateway performs well and is of a stylish, lightweight design, that features a panel to hide the ports and cables. The device allows users to set up and share your Next G connection with multiple Wi-Fi connections and up to 4 wired computers or devices.
The front panel of the BigPond Elite Wireless Network Gateway has blue LEDs. These LED's let you see signal strength, 3G, LAN activity, net connection Wi-Fi status, and power at a glance.
The Bigpond Elite Network Gateway, a NetComm 3G21WG wireless modem/router, and has security features such as NAT/PAT port filtering, MAC address and IP filtering and WEP/WPA/WPA2 wireless password protection.
The Elite Gateway features easy installation, the plug and play auto install makes for a nice and easy do-it-yourself installation. There is no need for a fixed ADSL or cable input. The package comes with a USB key that you plug into your PC or Mac to install the connection client software. The device does need to be plugged into 240V AC power with the provided power supply and in the respect is different from USB modems.
The Elite Gateway is delivered pre-programmed with an SSID (secure wireless network id) and a WPA key (wireless security key).Initially you need to use these defaults to set the network up, afterwards you can change them using either the software provided or the Web-based interface.
The Elite Network Gateway has:
4 Ethernet ports to connect up to four wired connections
2 x USB 2.0 port (supports print/file server)
Internal NextG & Wi-Fi antennas
1 x optional port.

The Bigpond Elite Network Gateway is compatible with Windows 7, Windows Vista (SP1, x 86/32-bit & 64/64-bit), Windows XP (SP2 & 3) and Mac OS (10.4 and 10.5). Wi-Fi supported is 802.11n and is backward compatible with 802.11b
