Telstra has announced it will launch the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 - which will be the company's second Android-powered mobile - on 4 May 2010.
The Xperia operates on the Android 1.6 platform but will be able to be upgraded to Android 2.1. The Sony Ericsson Xperia features a large four-inch touch screen display and a fast 1GHz Snapdragon processor. Included in the package will be an 8GB microSD memory card. The Xperia X10 weighs in at only 135 grams
Utilising Google's Android operating system, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 combines popular Google applications like Gmail and Google search with made-for-Android apps from Telstra including Mobile FOXTEL, Whereis Navigator and Yellow Pages Mobile.
Xperia X10 owners will be able to select from thousands of free and paid-for applications available from the Android Market - apps such as games, transport apps, tools, fitness apps and news services applications.
Xperia X10 owners are able to view all of their communication or media in one screen. Timescape displays all of a customer's communication in one view including SMS, email, Facebook posts and tweets.
Availability and Pricing
The Xperia X10 will be available on Telstra's 24mth $110 Ultimate plan, which includes 150MB of data each month, and as a $0 upfront handset on the 24mth $99 cap plan. You can also be buy the handset outright for $1099. Available from Telstra stores and dealers from 4 May 2010.
