Made by ZTE the MF633 BigPond modem features a slim, sleek and lightweight compact form. It has claimed data speeds of HSUPA 7.2Mbps downlink with 2.0 Mbps uplink speeds and importantly for rural users, an external antenna port for connection to an for increased coverage.
Utilising Telstra's Next G network for superior coverage and data speeds, the MF633 comes equipped with quad band GSM and tri band UMTS operating frequencies and provides on the go email and internet access.
The MF633 will accept a memory card and can function as a USB flash drive. Up to 4GB micro SDHC memory is supported by the device.
The MF633 is compatible with Microsoft Windows and Mac operating systems and is a plug and play device. Set up and registration was easy on the example we used with the three colour LED status indicators providing a clue to the status of the modem. The device is locked to the Telstra Network and can be unlocked for an unlocking fee.
This HSPA device is peak rated at 7.2Mbps downlink speed but has the usual caveats on relating to actual data speeds: "Actual speeds will be less. Speeds may vary due to congestion, distance from the cell, local conditions, hardware, software and other factors".
