Below is the step-by-step procedure of updating your Vodafone Samsung Galaxy S II via Vodafone’s firmware over the air (FOTA) upgrade.
The upgrade is to the Android 4.0.3 aka Ice Cream Sandwich and this also includes bug fixes and enhancements as well as new features including:

You can also update via Samsung Kies however this method involves a 1050MB update, to do that make sure you have the latest version of Kies and then connect your phone, you should then be prompted to update the firmware. Currently the Galaxy S II is somewhat of a bargin with Vodafone offering this handset on for $0 upfront on their $30 plan over 24 months.
